Shower Installation and Replacement in Kelso and the Borders
The right shower depends on your hot-water system, incoming pressure and drainage, not on what looks best in a brochure. We check those three things first, then fit an electric, mixer or pumped shower that will actually perform in your property, including walk-in enclosures and tray replacements.
Start with the supply, not the showerhead
Water pressure across the Borders varies a great deal between town centres and rural properties, and it decides what will work. Flow and pressure tell us whether a mixer, electric or pumped option is appropriate. Stored hot-water systems need compatible valves and balanced supplies, while an electric shower needs a suitable electrical circuit and enough cold-main flow.
Getting this wrong is the most common reason a new shower disappoints, so we confirm the hot-water type, pressure, electrics and drainage before you choose anything.
Problems we sort out
Plenty of our shower work is fixing an existing set-up rather than starting from scratch:
- Low flow or a weak spray
- Temperature that swings between hot and cold
- Cracked or failed trays and leaking enclosures
- Awkward waste routes that drain slowly
Walk-in showers and enclosures
A walk-in shower needs the tray properly supported and the waste given enough fall before any wall finishes go on. We prepare the walls, fit the supports, pipework and waste, and seal the waterproof junctions as part of the job rather than leaving it to someone else. If you need a fully level-access room instead, our wet room page explains how that differs.
Built to be serviced
We keep access to cartridges, traps and isolation valves, so a future repair does not mean breaking tiles. Before we leave, temperature stability, drainage and enclosure seals are all tested.
What to tell us when you get in touch
It helps to know whether you have a combi boiler, a hot-water cylinder or an electric shower now, and what is wrong with the current one. A photo of the existing shower valve and the space helps us prepare, and we confirm everything on the survey before quoting.
Full bathroom or just the shower?
This page covers shower work on its own. If you are replacing the whole bathroom, our bathroom installations team handles the full design, plumbing, tiling and electrics. We are based in Kelso and fit showers across the Scottish Borders and East Lothian.
Shower Installations questions
Why does my shower temperature keep changing?
Pressure imbalance, a worn cartridge or boiler modulation can all cause it. We test before replacing parts.
Can an electric shower replace a mixer?
Sometimes, but it needs a suitable electrical circuit, enough cold-main flow and a workable cable route.
Do you repair leaking shower trays?
Yes, after checking whether the leak comes from seals, waste, movement or concealed pipework.
Will a new shower fix low pressure?
Only if the cause is the shower itself. We check flow and pressure first so you choose an option that suits your supply.
Do you fit walk-in showers?
Yes, with tray support and waste fall checked before wall finishes are closed, and seals tested at handover.
